Agricultural Services

The mandate of Agricultural Services is to provide programs and services to preserve and maintain agricultural production within Parkland County.

Below is a list of the local programs and services provided by Parkland County Agricultural Services.  We welcome any comments regarding our programs or suggestions on additional ones.

Agricultural Services works with and for residents in the following major areas:
  • Weed control:
    • Enforcement of the Weed Control Act
    • Weed control on public lands
    • Inspection of seed cleaning plants
    • Grass seeding information source
    • Demonstration plots
    • Acreage weed control information program
    • Roadside vegetation management
  • Pest Control:
    • Enforcement of the Agricultural Pests Act
    • Coyote damage prevention information and seminars
    • Rat control
    • Grasshopper survey
    • Burrowing rodent control information
    • Trap sales and seminars
    • Insect and disease identification 
  • Soil & Water Conservation:
    • Alberta Environmentally Sustainable Agriculture Program
    • Soil and water conservation through enforcement of the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act
    • Land reclamation
  • Coordinate beaver control in the County.
  • Act as administrative support to the Agricultural & Rural Life Advisory Committee.
