Parkland County is proud of its Awards of Excellence program. This long running program recognizes County residents who have achieved excellence in the fields of Arts & Culture, Agriculture, Athletics and Community Life. The Community Life category was recently added to recognize an outstanding individual who has made a significant and/or lifetime contribution to the community.
The 100-Year Agricultural Award was added to this program in 2000 to honor families who have farmed, and continue to farm, the same parcel of land for 100 years or longer.
Parkland County Council will present Awards of Excellence to elligible County residents at Council meetings throughout the year as recipients are nominated.

Procedures
Nomination forms are available at Parkland County Centre or online.
- All nominations will be reviewed by County Council for eligibility in accordance with Policy AD 025 – Recognition of Achievements.
- Parkland County Council will have the final authority on approving award recipients under this program.
- Award presentations will be made at Council meetings shortly after the recipients have been determined.

Athletic Achievement
Parkland County will acknowledge and present an award to residents or group/teams who have distinguished themselves in an amateur athletic endeavour having placed first, second or third at a provincial or higher level competition. Amateur sporting events must be sanctioned or recognized by a provincial, national, or international governing body. Please click here to view past Athletic Achievement recipients.

Agricultural Achievement & Northlands Farm Family Award
Parkland County will acknowledge and present an award to residents or groups/teams who have distinguished themselves in an agricultural endeavour having placed first, second or third at a provincial or higher level competition. Please click here to view past Agriculture Achievement recipients.
Parkland County will acknowledge and present an award to the farm family that receives the Northlands Farm Family Award for Parkland County (presented in even years only as determined by Northlands). Please click here to view past Northlands Farm Family recipients.
100-Year Agricultural Award
Parkland County will also recognize a farm family who has farmed, and continues to farm, in Parkland County for 100 years or longer by presenting them with a 100-Year Agricultural Award. Please click here to view past 100-Year Agricultural recipients.Each applicant must meet the following criteria in order to qualify for the award:
- the applicant must provide complete documentation (copy of land title, homestead title or family tree) to verify family history.
- the applicant must be a direct descendant (son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter, great-grandson, great-granddaughter, etc.) of the original homesteader.
- The land must have been owned for consecutive years.
- The family must be actively farming the land at the time of application.
- The applicant must be residing on the original homestead.
Community Life
Parkland County will acknowledge and present an award to an outstanding individual(s) who has made a significant and/or lifetime contribution to the community which enhances the quality of life in Parkland County. Nominees may be recognized for a single action or for a contribution or achievement over an extended period of time. Please click here to view past Community Life recipients.Back to top
General InformationThe following rules apply to nominations in all categories:
- Individuals or groups/team will be recognized for their highest accomplishment achieved that year.
- Parkland County will recognize all members of a team/group if that team/group has at least one member being a Parkland County resident, and the team/group is located or trains within the boundaries of Parkland County (including coaches, trainers and managers).
- The person submitting the nomination is responsible for providing all necessary information.
- Parkland County may contact the nominator if required.
- All qualified nominees will receive an award appropriate to their age level and level of achievement.
- Award presentations will take place on an ongoing basis in Council Chambers.
- Parkland County will not formally recognize nominations as a result of competitions occurring within the school system and will refer these to their respective school boards for consideration.
